Dangers of Fentanyl

  • The deadliest drug threat this country is facing is fentanyl, which is a potent synthetic opioid drug that is approximately 100 times more potent than morphine and 50 times more potent than heroin.

  • Fentanyl is added to heroin to increase its potency, or be disguised as highly potent heroin. Many users believe that they are purchasing heroin and don’t actually know that they are purchasing fentanyl – which often results in overdose deaths.

  • Just one pill containing a lethal dose fentanyl can kill you.  Just 2 milligrams of fentanyl can be fatal to the average person.

  • Fentanyl is most commonly seen in Alaska mixed into other illegal drugs such as heroin and methamphetamine, and also in counterfeit pills such as oxycodone M30 pills and Xanax.

  • Never consume prescription grade drugs that were not prescribed to you by a medical professional and obtained from a licensed pharmacy. Assume any pill that was not obtained through lawful channels is contaminated with fentanyl.
