Who We Are

The Alaska HIDTA program, designated in May 2018, is spread throughout the state, and includes partnerships between local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies.

Our Mission

The High Intensity Drug Trafficking Areas (HIDTA) program, created by Congress with the Anti-Drug Abuse Act of 1988, aids federal, state, local, and tribal law enforcement agencies operating in areas determined to be critical drug-trafficking regions of the United States. This grant program is administered by the Office of National Drug Control Policy (ONDCP).

What We’ve Achieved

  • In the summer of 2022, Alaska law enforcement seized nearly 2.5 million fatal doses of fentanyl before it was able to make it into circulation.

  • In 2021, the statewide HIDTA initiative seized 7,310 pills containing fentanyl and approximately 612.16 grams of fentanyl. This is enough fentanyl to kill enough over 200,000 Alaskans.
